Days 7-11

Well, we have some catching up to do! Just because I haven't been blogging, doesn't mean we haven't been doing our Advent Activities.

Day 7: We set up the manger. Evan loved playing with the camel and baby Jesus. Our manger is hand carved and comes directly from the Old City of Jerusalem. Adam gave it to me as a special gift 2 years ago when he was in Israel. I think Evan wishes it was a toy but it is too valuable to me to let him play with it.
Day 8: We got the garland and a wreath hung. We actually did this activity the on the 7th. I had some free time so I took the opportunity. Evan helped by climbing up the step stool behind me and then he helped sweep up the pine pieces that dropped. Oh, I had a girls night in and we did a craft! In addition to our snacking on treats and sipping on wine we made snow globes. Directions came from Martha Stewart but we put all the love into them and they actually turned out quite impressive.

Day 9: Evan and I made a Gingerbread Man. Evan ate 2 pieces of candy for every one he put on our gingerbread man. I think he really liked this activity!

Day 10: Day 10 was supposed to be the special holiday movie night. We did watch a movie but I am not sure how special it was. We've seen Rudolf almost every day now since the beginning of the month!
Day 11: Plan was to go see the zoo lights. Unfortunately this activity doesn't start until 6pm. That isn't really that late but our boys go to bed between 6:30 and 7pm. So, instead we did a morning activity and went to the Botanic Gardens to see a fantastic train display. The theme this year was "wonders of the ancient world". Some of the train station stops were Machu Picchu, Petra, and the Eiffel Tower, all of which Adam has seen in real life!
