Take the time...

We took the time one morning to make fresh muffins filled with all kinds of nutritious goodness including carrots, apple, flax, oat bran and walnuts. The boys were my helpers and filled the tins with the paper muffin cups and sadly even though I gave Siena her own tin she cried and was upset the whole time. Her crying made me feel stressed and I ended up rushing the mixing and making of the muffins.  But, afterwards, the kids had a healthy breakfast that they helped make.

We also took the time to play a game together. That same morning because of all of Siena's crying she was tired by 8:30am and took a little morning nap. That gave me a chance to sit and play a board game with Evan and Jake. It was so nice! Evan and Jake took turns, got excited for each other and showed patience and self control-all things that we are constantly working on. Every day still holds about the same amount of hours when the children are awake, but many days pass where I don't take the time to do something focused, different or fun. I am so glad that we didn't just pour a bowl of cereal or let the morning hours pass just with sweeping crumbs and washing dishes. I "took the time" and I am so grateful. My sister reminded me that we can't rewind time and we can push fast forward. It is good to be present and enjoy the time we have right now!
