Tiger Mom

I just had a book club meeting and we discussed the book Battle Hymn of the Tiger Mother. In many regards I did not agree with her but on some issues like respect and living up to your potential I did. In response to reading the book, I decided to help Evan and Jake(mostly Evan, Jake is a bit young) to learn more about colors, shapes, numbers and letters. I am going to focus on one thing each week and take breaks on the weekends.
This week is colors. First activity for today was to play I Spy and find different colors around the house. I took an old toilet paper roll to use as our telescope. After finding his "brown house slippers" and "blue stripes" on his shirt he took our "telescope" told me it was dirty and put it in the trash! So, that activity ended more quickly then I expected.
Tomorrow I plan to just play with crayons but focus on each different color and talk about them as we draw. As a mom I do believe that I can play a key role in helping my children learn and achieve new things. So I am going to keep it simple and fun but hope at the end of 4 weeks we've all learned or improved on a few different topics.
