Strawberry Picking

We went to Mt. Airy U-Pick Strawberry farm last weekend. Right now strawberries are about the number one favorite food for Siena. It was a crisp sunny morning that was perfect for picking. Although there was only about 1/3 ripe the we found plenty red plump berries.  We ate some right out of the field but with the ones that made it home we made strawberry rhubarb pie and strawberry ice cream. We also served them sliced over ice cream for dessert and just as a side for our breakfast. They are delicious. We only have about 2 cups worth that I decided to freeze for later use.
