Our past few days consisted of setting up our special Nativity that Adam brought us back from Israel, going to see the National Zoo Lights, Seeing the National Tree and sitting on Santa's lap, and making Christmas cards for Evan and Jakes teachers.
The highlight was definitely the Zoo Lights and National Tree outing. Both nights I made little bags of popcorn for Evan and Jake(mistakingly I forgot to make one for Adam). While waiting to see Santa, Evan and Jake were mesmerized by the Yule Log. They just starred and enjoyed the warm glow from the fire. When we got to see Santa it was as expected, both boys cried and didn't want anything to do with him, although they were excited to see him during our wait in line. Our family photos with Santa are the same each year, Adam and I smiling, while the boys look like we are torturing them. Then we tried to get close to the model train display but just as we were getting close a helicopter flew overhead and it was Obama about land on the White House lawn. Everything was blocked off. We couldn't see the trains and we could not even walk back to our cars. At that point there was a meltdown. What might of only been 10 minutes felt like forever. The crowds were thick and Evan needed to use the bathroom and Jake was crying!
Despite this not so perfect ending to the night, we had a fun family outing, one we will surely remember!
