What a weekend! On Friday we took a family day trip to Ellicot City. There was a special train display at the old train station. It is actually the oldest one in all of America! Evan really enjoyed watching the trains zoom through the tunnels and around the tracks. We had lunch at a little bistro then strolled in and out of a few antique shops and toy stores. Each store had the front window festively decorated which added to the Christmas atmosphere and spirit of the day. That night we went to the DC Open Air Market in Chinatown then to the see the National Tree. I think we pushed it and were a bit over ambitious with the activities because Evan melted down at the tree and cried when he sat on Santa's lap. It was still nice to walk around and overall a great day.
Then the snow came! Oh how pretty! Saturday morning we walked to a local breakfast nook and enjoyed looking out the restaurants window with all the snow coming down outside. The rest of the day we pretty much just nuzzled in and enjoyed watching the weather channel and playing games.
Today I got to go to a local church and hear a great sermon on "hope" and "remembering to enjoy now as we are awaiting the birth of Christ". After church Adam, Evan and I all walked downtown to M street and got lunch then strolled to our local grocery store Trader Joes. It was clear on most of the sidewalks but the intersections were filled with slush. Thankfully our stroller is awesome and got through it all! When we got back we let Evan roam around outside and explore the snow. We didn't have gloves or boots for him so instead we put socks on his hands and plastic bags over his feet. It looked funny but it worked!
It sure has been a fun weekend!
